We always were passionately curious. Our pursuit to find answers is what helped us become the advanced, evolutionary miracle we are today. But there always were questions we could not find the answers to. One of those questions is, how did it all begin?
Of course we have theories like the big bang which has fair amount of evidence supporting its validity. But we still have not found conclusive proof. Vedanta has an interesting theory. Maya, the mystical energy that is inseparable from god itself simulates the universe as we know in the blank canvas that is Brahma. Like a matrix, one might say. God in this context is the collective consciousness of all beings, the life force that binds us all.
Tantra calls the energy which is ever constant as Shiva. And the matter that originates from this energy is called Shakti. In the beginning, this Shiva and Shakti was indistinguishable, matter and energy couldn’t be said apart. And thus, we should not see them separate because they are inter convertible. This is called “thantraparasamhit”.
The driving force of evolution is a character of Shakti, or matter. That is why matter can be solid, liquid or gas, it changes from a huge chunk of mass to a star or a planet or a black hole. On the other hand, energy doesn’t have a form, it is the mind, it is the life force, it is our cosmic consciousness.
Tantra says that the whole universe is the reflection of Shiva and Shakti. It says that interactions within shakti sends out waves of shakti and shiva, which we perceive as the universe. But this reflection is in the sensory cortex of our brain. What we perceive of the universe is what our 5 senses tell us the universe is. What if we were born without these senses? Would the universe exist for us? Would it be real if we can’t perceive it? We see something because our visual cortex tells us it is there. So is the entire reality there, outside? Or is it all inside us?
Are we all some kind of collective consciousness that agree upon a reality? What if nothing is real and all of the universe is just a very convincing hallucination. Everyone perceives the same reality because there is no everyone. There is only one consciousness. We are no different from some neurons interacting. This theory explains the law of attraction, it explains religious miracles, it explains everything. This is the science of tantra. We have been looking for answers in the wrong places. The answers we seek lie within us.
